The National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) is intended to make accessible instructional materials easier for educators to acquire. The NIMAS standard is used to convert educational materials into XML source files. Publishers submit the resulting NIMAS files sets to the National Instructional Materials Access Center (NIMAC). NIMAS files can then be accessed by educators and used to generate accessible formats including Braille, large print and digital talking books.
